The U15/U16 group is aimed at boys aged 14 and 15 with a handicap index of 7 and under. However this is a guidance only and other information is taken into account, such as away scores, events competed in, level of those events, potential and attitude.
The training sessions run throughout the year, generally between March and September, and are led by 2 to 3 coaches, one lead and one/two support.
A practice round for the U15/16 County Championships forms part of one of these training days where possible.
The U15's have two matches, although they may also be considered for U16's matches. The first, is a Triple Shield match against Sussex & Hampshire and is made up of 6 players from each County. The second is a match is against the Wales U15's National Squad and takes place over two days. The afternoon on day 1 is a practice round, with day 2 made up of Foursomes in the morning and Singles in the afternoon with 8 players making up each team.
The U16's have five matches, with the potential for a sixth, if successful in the league matches. Three of the five matches are South Eastern Group league matches against two other counties. There is one home match and two away and they take the form of triple match play, contested by 8 players from each County. The winning County of the league will advance to a final match later in the year.
The fourth match is played against Hertfordshire and is a singles match play format made up of 20 players, 10 players from each County.
The fifth match is the annual MUGS match which is competed between BB&O and Surrey, alternating home and away. The match consists of Foursomes in the morning and Singles in the afternoon with ten players from each county.
If you are interested in representing the county or would like further information, please contact the county office. As with all the teams certain handicap criteria exists and for the under 16.
