SURREY LEAGUE CUP SECRETARIES 2020
Andrew Mead - email
The Guildford & District League was founded in 1978 and has run since then with a maximum of 16 clubs in any one season. Three leagues of four with the winners of the three groups and the best runner up going through to a Finals Day. The clubs who have previously been part of the G & D L are Bramley, Burhill, Camberley Heath, Effingham, Farnham, Foxhills, Hindhead, North Hants, West Byfleet, West Hill, West Surrey and Windlesham. Several other clubs are affiliated to the G & DL but have not been able to field a team due to low numbers. For these clubs we offer an opportunity to play each other on a friendly basis to enable them to build up their Junior Section.
The league matches consist of five match play singles played in handicap order home and away. The final is the four top teams consisting of six Juniors playing gross and handicap stroke play and the best combination of 1 gross and 4 handicap scores is calculated. The team with the highest total score is the winner. In 2018 Burhill won and went on to represent the G & DL in the National Team Event in Portugal, and won the Trophy. 2019 winners were Windlesham who have also qualified for the Finals of the Team Event in Portugal in the New Year.
