Purpose and Aim
To give talented young golfers the opportunity to play competitive golf in a team environment and better their understanding of the game.
Our U12s age group consists of two squads, our U12 playing squad (aimed at boys with a handicap index of 24.0 and below) and our U12 development squad (aimed at boys with a handicap index of 36.0 and below).
Please note that these handicap index limits are for guidance only, with other selection criteria also being taken into account, such as away scores, events competed in, potential and attitude.
Training / Coaching
Both of our U12 squads have six half day coaching sessions throughout the year, led by a Surrey Lead Coach, one support coach and two assistant coaches. The half day normally consists of training with some on course playing, all whilst being observed by the professionals. They also have a practice day for the U12s County Championship. All coaching is based around short game, putting, course strategy and mindset. These sessions also give the players the ability to team bond and make new friends.
Matches
The U12s have three matches during the season:
- A triple match against Hampshire & Sussex
- Essex
- Hampshire (mixture of U12s / U13s / U14s)
