To give talented young golfers the opportunity to play competitive golf in a team environment and better their understanding of the game through the County Academy Programme (CAP). Aimed at boys aged 11 and under with a maximum handicap index of 36, although this is subject to the number of players each season.
The U12 category is split into 2 groups, the Playing Squad of approximately 20 boys and the Development Squad of no more than 24 boys. Both groups have six half day coaching sessions throughout the golf season, led by a Surrey Lead Coach, one support coach and two assistant coaches. The half day normally consists of training with some on course playing whilst being observed by the professionals. They also have a practice day for the U12s County Championship. All coaching is based around short game, putting, course strategy and mindset. These sessions also give the players the ability to team bond and make new friends.
The U12s have four matches during the season:
Boys are encouraged to get involved in the very successful rookie tour events as these are a great opportunity to play competitive golf and show their ability. If county golf is of interest, please contact the Surrey office or U12 team manager for further details.
