
To produce the very best team that Surrey can offer in the over 55 year age group. To be able to compete at the very highest level against other counties, both regionally and nationally. To be considered for selection a handicap of three and under is required with notable performances in county and national events.
There are training sessions at the beginning of the season currently held at Silvermere Golf Club. This training is supervised by Simon Peaford PGA, the Surrey Seniors Coach.
Surrey Seniors are part of the South-East Group (SEG) and play against the other 10 counties to qualify for the national finals. This is a two round event popularly known as the Six Man Qualifier.
The Seniors also play SEG League Matches against Kent, Hampshire and Sussex. These matches are 10 singles over 18 holes.
The team is selected from a squad of approximately 20 players.
The scheduled matches and major competitions for 2023 are
Surrey Seniors began the 2023 season with a competitive friendly against Hertfordshire Seniors at Windlesham on Thursday 23rd March. It was a very close game on a challenging course which proved a good test in the strong wind with occasional rain showers. The Surrey team were winners by 4.5 to 3.5. Four games went up the last and three finished on 17. Nigel Pimm of Surbiton put in a fine performance and was able to win 4&3 against Jason Court of Berkhamsted.
The 8-man team included three debutants and had a wealth of tournament and Surrey County experience. The team was Stephen Jensen, Fred Lindgren (debut), Ian Attoe, Simon Crockett (debut), Simon Skeldon (debut), Nigel Pimm, David Boxall and Tom Hawkings.
