Seniors

Purpose & Aim

To produce the very best team that Surrey can offer in the over 55 year age group. To be able to compete at the very highest level against other counties, both regionally and nationally. To be considered for selection, a handicap index of 3.0 or below is required, with notable performances in county and national events beneficial.


Training & Coaching

There are training sessions at the beginning of the season currently held at Silvermere Golf Club. These training sessions are supervised by Simon Peaford PGA, the Surrey Seniors' Coach.


Matches & Competitions

Surrey Seniors are part of the England Golf Southeast Group (SEG) and play against the other 10 counties in the regional qualifier for the national finals. This is a two round event popularly known as the Six Man Qualifier.

The Seniors also play SEG League Matches against Kent, Hampshire and Sussex. These fixtures consist of 10 singles matches played over 18 holes.

The team is selected from an everygrowing squad of approximately 20 players. Aside from the SEG matches, the team play against teams from Jersey, Royal Wimbledon and Burhill.

Players are selected for league matches based on their performance in county, regional and national senior events. The team are supported by a well-structured county office run by the county secretary and her team.
