The final of the Kelso Hamilton Knock-Out (4BBB) took place on Sunday 19th October at Woodcote Park Golf Club, under what can only be described as truly dreadful conditions — persistent heavy rain accompanied by a biting, stiff wind. Full credit goes to the players and the small group of hardy supporters who braved the weather, as well as to Surrey rules official Sue Eggleton for her dedication.
Burhill’s Romas Kusneraitis and David Pyne won the toss and teed off first, followed by Roehampton’s Jack Collins and Henry John. With the wind blowing straight down the opening hole, the already demanding 458-yard par 4 played even longer than usual.
The match was closely contested throughout, with never more than a two-hole margin separating the teams. Roehampton held a narrow lead for most of the round, but Burhill battled back time and again. However, Jack and Henry managed to pull two ahead at the 15th, eventually closing out the match on the 17th for a 2&1 victory.
The match was played in great spirit, and this continued into the Clubhouse where players, supporters, and officials enjoyed some well-deserved refreshments and a warm atmosphere during the prize presentation.
Congratulations to Jack Collins and Henry John on their win, and commiserations to Romas Kusneraitis and David Pyne for a valiant effort.
Finally, a big thank you to Woodcote Park Golf Club for hosting the event.
