The final of the English Senior Men's County Championship takes place over three days and consists of 3 foursomes matches in the morning and six matches of singles in the afternoon.

  • David Boxall (c)
  • Simon Crockett
  • Les Bruckner
  • Nigel Pimm
  • Ian Barker
  • Keith Waters
  • Simon Skeldon

Simon Peaford - Coach

Day 1 saw Surrey take on Durham in tightly fought matches but Surrey eventually took the win 5 points to 4.

Day 2 was another very tight day, this time with Surrey drawing with Staffordshire, this meant the last day was all to play for as 3 of the four counties could claim the trophy.

Day 3 and the team had to take on Cornwall, who on the first day had a convincing win over Stafforsdshire 6 points to 3. It turned out to be an eventful day, with Les saving his best to last and hitting his third hole in one on the 2nd hole, where David had previously chipped in from 30 yards. Not content with that David then went on to hole another chip, this time from 50 yards on the 3rd hole. Surrey went on to beat Cornwall 6.5 to 2.5 and this was enough to win them the title.
