70 players teed it up at the beautiful Tandridge Golf Club on Wednesday 30th August for the sixth county card meeting of the season. As with all our but two of our county card meetings, the format was an individual Stableford off the yellow tee with prizes for the top six Stableford scores, as well as two nearest the pin prizes for the 4th & 15th holes.
As the first players teed off, they were met with beautiful sunshine, which lasted throughout the day and made for some brilliant scores. In fact, we are not sure if we have ever seen a higher scoring top 6 positions in a county card meeting before!
Once all the scorecards had been returned and the players were tucking into their infamous lunches at Tandridge, the final scores read as follows:
Results:
1st Place - Darren Haggis (Kingswood) - 42 points
2nd Place - Will Lytle (Guildford) - 41 points
3rd Place - Andrew Gordon (Coombe Hill) - 41 points
4th Place - Dave Phelan (Kingswood) - 39 points
5th Place - Greg Stewart (Dulwich & Sydenham Hill) - 39 points
6th Place - David Wilde (Reigate Hill) - 39 points
Congratulations to all the prize winners, and many thanks to all the players for supporting our county card events and for making the day so enjoyable.
Many thanks to Brian Cox for all his help on the day, doing the registration and checking the scorecards.
A huge thank you also to Tandridge Golf Club for hosting the event, all the staff were very helpful and welcoming towards us, the course was in great condition and as always the food was fantastic!
Lastly, we still have some spaces available for the county card events at Effingham and Walton Heath (fourball) which are in November. To sign up for these events, please visit the Surrey Golf website.
The next event is the individual Stableford and for those that have already signed up via the website we look forward to seeing you on the 3rd October.
