Despite the disappointing numbers, those present had a great time and we couldn't have asked for a better day.
We had 15 clubs take part in the event and all were vying for the top spot with a lot of friendly competitiveness on display between the Pro's. The format was 4BBB Stableford, playing off the white tees and the advice from the club was beware the rough!
The first fourball to take to the 1st tee in the glorious September sunshine was Robert Frew and Alex Williams form Wimbledon Common and Scott Wynyard & Martin Hooper from Croham Hurst.
Two nearest the pins were set up for the Captains on holes 8 and 13 and the 16th for the Pro's.
Robert and Alex led the way until Michael Day and Mark Savage from Farleigh came in with a fantastic 48 points to take top spot and unsurprisingly they stayed there. Bradley Warner and Sue Eggleton from Foxhill's were close on their tail but came up just short with 46 points.
The overall results were as follows:
Thanks to Caroline Hardy-Evans and board member Simon Crockett who very kindly stepped in following a last minute withdrawal and shot a very credible 42 points!
After the competition a very welcome meal of steak and grilled sea bass with a glass of wine was enjoyed by all with the presentation to follow.
Our thanks to Cuddington Golf Club for hosting the event, the staff who couldn't do enough for us and were so friendly, the course (if you managed to stay out of the rough) was in excellent condition and the food wonderful.
