U13s v Kent & Sussex at Hever Castle GC

The U13 Triple Shield, played for by teams of eight from Kent, Surrey and Sussex in a triple matchplay format, took place at Hever Castle Golf Club on Wednesday 16th August. The players enjoyed burger and chips for lunch, before heading out onto the course for the match.

The first match saw AJ Van Emmenis take victory over Sussex, but a narrowly missed putt on the 18th hole saw the Kent player take the win against Surrey.

Match 2 saw Zahn Bopiah win both matches for Surrey, the Sussex match 2&1, and the Kent match 3&2.

In Match 3, Joshua Jackson provided a nailbiting finish with both matches going to the 18th. Josh beat Sussex on the final green, and also managed to squeeze a half against Kent.

Darragh Sidhu, playing in Match 4, had a 3&2 win over Sussex, though suffered a 5&4 defeat against Kent.

Jack Robinson gave a gritty performance in Match 5, though unfortunately lost both matches, 2&1 to Sussex and 5&4 to Kent.

Likewise, in Match 6, Euhwan Kim also suffered a dual defeat, 2 down to Sussex and 3&1 to Kent.

In another nailbiter, Sully Donald took both his matches to the 18th and took victory in them both.

In the final Match, Yumin Do took a 1 up win against Sussex, though lost to Kent 3&2.

The final match results were:

Kent 23 points

Surrey 17 points

Sussex 8 points

All the players from each of the Counties showed true determination and everybody battled hard in both victory and defeat.

Congratulations to Kent on winning the Triple Shield for the first time since 2010, it was well deserved. We look forward to hosting the 2024 edition. Please click here to view the full match results.
