The Surrey A team moved on to their third game of the year at Betchworth Park GC and hosted a top team of players against a formidable home team.
Surrey was keen to keep up their unbeaten run this season and Betchworth were hoping to repeat their recent victories against Surrey. It was an intriguing fixture with the match format 10 a-side with foursomes am and singles pm.
The recent poor spring weather was forgotten with a glorious day of sunshine and the course in fabulous condition with much attention to detail following many recent improvements.
Surrey A managed to take a lead after the morning games 3.5-1.5 but with an unfortunate injury in the morning meant one game in the afternoon was eliminated. The club provided some excellent lunchtime food and then we were back out on the course for the singles and despite a valiant fightback by the home team with some very tight matches Surrey managed to take the afternoon singles 6-3 for a winning match score 9.5-4.5.
Stories of missed opportunities followed in the bar after the match! Our thanks to John Cassidy and all the team at Betchworth for an enjoyable day and some fabulous golf. Next match is against Tyrrells Wood Golf Club on the 8th of July.
