Simon Crockett Wins Seniors County Championship

On Thursday 11th May, 57 players from 28 clubs arrived at Cuddington Golf club to compete for the Seniors County Championship.

The forecast at the start of the day was not the best but the weather gods had other ideas and the sun decided to join us, however that would change for the Friday!

Paul Winyard from Croham Hurst took the early lead in the clubhouse with a 79 but he was soon to be knocked off top slot by Paul Earland from the Royal Automobile Club and Robert Brant of Royal Mid Surrey both shooting 74. Ian Rennie from Hindhead then submitted a 71, quickly followed by the eventual winner Simon Crockett with a 70. However, Peter Jackson had something to say about that and carded an excellent four under par with a 67.

The top 30 players were back at Cuddington on the Friday for the final day's play. Sadly the weather wasn't so kind, not only was it cold but the rain joined in too!

The weather didn't deter the players with some great scores being returned, Simon Crockett would save his best to last and return a 68, to bring his total to 138 and win the Championship by four shots.

Peter Jackson would take second place with 142 and Fredrik Lindgren 3rd with 146.

Congratulations to all the players that took part but especially the overall winner Simon Crockett pictured below with the trophy.
