40 players were greeted with beautiful weather when they arrived at Burhill Golf Club for the county card meeting on Wednesday 3rd May. Many players commented on the amazing condition of the course, saying that the fairways and greens were the best that they had played on this year.
The day was a yellow tee Stableford played over Burhill's Old Course in three balls. There were prizes awarded for the top four stableford scores on the day, as well as two prizes for nearest the pins on the 6th and 16th holes.
The first players teed off the 1st and 9th holes at 08:30, with former Surrey President David Basham and Surrey County Secretary Steve McNeill acting as starters for the day.
Burhill had set the course up tough, with very quick greens and some difficult pin positions, but despite this, good scores were posted throughout the day. The results were as follows:
Results
1st Place - Chi Ho (Farnham) - 39 points
2nd Place - Michael Thompson (Betchworth Park) - 36 points
3rd Place - Tamas Ladacs (Richmond Park) - 35 points (on count back)
4th Place - Darren Haggis (Kingswood) - 35 points (on count back)
Nearest the pin 6th hole - Peter O'Donnell (The Addington)
Nearest the pin 16th hole - Chi Ho (Farnham)
Congratulations to all the prize winners, and our thanks to all the players for supporting our county card events and for making the day at Burhill so enjoyable.
Many thanks to Brian Cox, who greeted all players on arrival at the registration desk, as well as David Basham and Steve McNeill for doing the starting.
