In the latter part of the nineteenth century the great golf boom spread across the county, and from then until the 1920's three quarters of the English clubs existing today were formed. Surrey was no exception and the immense variety offered by its heaths, downlands, commons, and parklands provided the perfect sites for the game. By 1923 there were over 50 clubs in the county, with Surrey now boasting over 100 and we are proud to see that 14 of these courses appear in the top 100 golf courses in GB & I and 3 in the World top 100.
