The Thornhill Mixed Trophy KO Rules

The competition shall be open to any mixed pair of individual Members of clubs affiliated to the Surrey Ladies County Golf Association and Surrey County Golf Ltd and players do not need to belong to the same Club.

Both players shall be age 18 or over on the 1st of January of that year’s knockout.

Team substitutions are not permitted once the first round has been played.

All matches should be played over a course set up as if for a qualifying competition, off the appropriate Club’s medal competition tees of the day.

The maximum combined handicap Index is 44.0. Teams may exceed this limit but must play off 44.0. If the combined handicap indexes do exceed 44.0, the higher handicap index player must reduce their handicap index to bring the combined limit down to 44.0.

The matches will be played over 18 holes as a match play foursomes’ knockout. WHS Playing Handicap mandatory allowance is 50% of the combined team handicap. The away team will receive one additional shot added to their Playing handicap after all calculations have been calculated. However, if any one of the ‘Away Team’ pairing, is also a playing member of the home Club, no extra shot is given.

Stroke Indices are to be taken from the tees used by the Ladies.

Where a Team are members of  2 or more Clubs, they must nominate which course they will play their matches on and that course must be used for all home matches.

The knockouts will be open to all players who are an affiliated member of a Surrey Golf Club.

All matches should be played over a course set up as if for a qualifying competition, off the Club’s medal tees of the day.

All Surrey Knockouts will be played under the rules of the R&A and local rules as per the hosting clubs, unless otherwise advised.

All matches must be played to a conclusion until the overall competition result is decided.

A player may represent their club in as many of the knockouts as required but they may not represent more than one team in the same knockout at their club or for another Surrey club.

Assuming the previous year’s finalists are in the draw they will be seeded in each of the knockouts.
Home clubs/players are reminded that is it the rules of the competition to allow the players of the Away Team to play a practice round at a rate equal to or less than the members’ introduced guest rate, prior to the match date.

The home team/player is expected to offer at least three dates to their opponents to play the match, two at weekends and one mid-week with exception of the Seniors. These dates must be offered in a timely manner, if none of these dates are acceptable to the visitors and no other mutually acceptable date is agreed, then both teams will be disqualified. We suggest that matches are played sooner rather than later. The Competition Committees decision is final.

WHILST IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE HOME TEAM TO OFFER DATES IT IS EXPECTED THAT ALL TEAMS/PLAYERS WILL MUTUALLY AGREE TO PLAY THEIR MATCHES BEFORE THE COMPLETION DATE OF EACH ROUND.

No extensions will be given.
