Michael Hagan wins the County Card Meeting at Tandridge
The County Card Meeting at Tandridge Golf Club took place on Wednesday 4th September.
As with all but two of our county card meetings, the format was an individual Stableford off the yellow tees. With a big field of 64 players, we had prizes for the top six Stableford scores, as well as our usual two nearest the pin prizes, on Tandridge’s 4th and 15th holes.
The first tee time was 8:30am, with Terry Christy, Surrey Golf past President and past Chairman, very kindly doing the starting for us off the 1st tee. The golf course was in fantastic condition, and the weather was warm and without much wind, making for good scoring conditions.
Paul Bloomfield from Kingswood took the early clubhouse lead with a very solid score of 38 points. Paul was hoping to be the third winner of this event from Kingswood in the last three years, but it remained to be seen whether this would be the case as the afternoon went on!
As more scores were returned, Paul’s score was bettered by Daniel Sayers from Walton Heath Artisans, who scored an impressive 39 points.
As the rest of the field came in, Daniel patiently waited to see if anyone would beat his score. As the remaining groups finished their rounds and returned their scorecards, Daniel remained atop the leader board until the very last group came in, at which point he was replaced at the top by Michael Hagan from Dulwich & Sydenham Hill, who shot a fantastic score of 41 points, the only player to score in the 40s all day.
This meant that Michael was crowned winner of the Tandridge County Card Meeting 2024!

2nd Place – Daniel Sayers (Walton Heath Artisans) – 39 points
3rd Place – Paul Bloomfield (Kingswood) – 38 points
4th Place - Neil Page (Tandridge) – 38 points
5th Place – Peter Lang (Malden) – 37 points
6th Place - Franco Romanucci (Cuddington) – 37 points
Nearest the pin 4th hole - Mark Linsdall (Shirley Park)
Nearest the pin 15th hole – Daniel Sayers (Walton Heath Artisans)

Many thanks as always to Brian Cox, who greeted all players on arrival at the registration desk and also checked all scorecards after they had been returned. We are very grateful to Brian for giving up so much of his time to help us at these events. Thanks also to Terry Christy for doing the starting for us.
A big thank you to Tandridge Golf Club for hosting us and for being so welcoming. The golf course was in fantastic condition and the food was amazing, as it always is!
