West Surrey Duo Claim Foursomes Championship

Friday 1st September saw 14 pairs battle it out for the Surrey Club Foursomes Championship.

The first day consists of 36 holes foursomes stroke play with the top 4 pairs qualifying for the knockout stages the following day.

West Surrey was playing in amazing condition, with the greens in unbelievable condition.

After the first day, the qualifiers for the knockout stages were:

1st          Peter Crocombe & Max Stanley (Roehampton) - 147

2nd        Mark Davis & Archibald Wells (Guildford) - 151   

3rd         James Boyle & Christopher Matthews (West Surrey) - 153

4th         Neil Manwaring & Stuart J White (Tyrrells Wood) – 154

The first semi-final of day 2 was Peter Crocombe & Max Stanley vs Neil Manwaring & Stuart White.

This was a well fought match which saw Peter & Max hold a solid 3&2 victory to book their spot in the final.

Match number 2 was Chris Matthews & James Boyle vs Mark Davis & Archie Wells.

This was an extremely close match with Chris & James stealing the victory on the 19th hole.

The final was set to be an interesting match with both pairs posting low scores in the qualifying stage. Although, in the case, home knowledge proved vital as Chris & James sprinted to a 6&4 victory over Peter & Max.
