Surrey 1st Team Beat Wentworth

County1st Team v Wentworth

The County team were very privileged to be invited to play at Wentworth on the magnificent West course on October 17.

The match was 12 a side played in 4 balls. 

Matches 1 & 2 saw Surrey team mates up against each other. Terry Nicholls for Surrey v Harry Hobday-Uzzell representing Wentworth and 14 year old Kris Kim playing against Jack Kurzberg. Both matches were littered with birdies on the fantastic West course greens with Harry prevailing 3&2 and Kris levelling the score beating Jack 5&4.

In matches 3&4, Surrey had regular points scorers Ben Palmer & Jacob Aaholm facing Fillipo Tarenghi and Surrey junior Rocky Chapman for Wentworth. Ben played to his usual high standard for a 5&4 victory, whilst Jacob won by 2 holes.

The next 4 ball saw Wentworth field 2 more Surrey players in Iain Mackay & Jasper Cox facing Ben Patterson of Hindhead and Callum Rice of Reigate Hill.  2 more  Surrey points followed with wins of  1 hole and 5&4 for Ben and Callum respectively. 

Behind this was Wentworth Captain and stalwart Leyton Hardwick,  who fought tooth and nail with his Surrey counterpart David Primrose all the way to the final hole with David just prevailing by the narrowest of margins.

Former Surrey player Eoin Leonard, now a tour professional, faced Surrey junior Aidan Millham. Eoin won 3&2 in a high quality match. 

Surrey Colts player Archie Wells and Surrey A team player  Craìg Hodgson both won the brilliant 18th hole for 1 Hole victories over Wentworth’s George Hobday-Uzzell and Adam Wells before the Surrey legend Simon Crockett playing in his first match for 4 years beat former County champion James Boase 4&3, with Wentworth taking the final point as David Ravinskas beat U18 squad player Nathan Woodham 5&4.
