Reigate Hill Retain Club Foursomes Championship
Friday 6th August saw 13 pairs head out for 36 holes Strokeplay Foursomes at Reigate Hill Golf Club with the top 4 pairs from each club going onto qualify for the Match play stages the following day.
After round one, the scores were very close and near enough all pairs were still in the competition.
Round two proved to be the most challenging but nonetheless the scores remained close, the top 3 scores were in, but 4th had to be decided by playoff between Ross Buchanan & David Primrose (Sutton Green) vs Graham Powell & Neil Whyte (Banstead Downs).
Team Banstead would win the playoff with a birdie after nearly driving the par 4 1st hole.
The top 4 qualifiers were:
- Leyton Hardwick & Harry Hobday-Uzzell (Wentworth)
- Mike Ducker & Ben Palmer (Reigate Hill)
- Archie Wells & Sam Wood (Bramley)
- Graham Powell & Neil Whyte (Banstead Downs)
The qualifiers arrived the following morning to discover the harsh rain had unfortunately closed the course! After a delicious breakfast an alternative date was arranged for the following week.
The first Semi-Final out was Team Wentworth vs Team Banstead with Team Wentworth moving onto the Final in the afternoon.
The second Semi-Final between Team Bramley and Team Reigate Hill resulted in Team Reigate Hill advancing to the Final.
The Final was an extremely exciting one with some excellent golf being played. Ultimately, Team Reigate Hill would claim the crown of Club Foursomes Champions.
