Matthew Kim wins the U12 County Champion

With a field of 34 players the Surrey U12 County Championship, Paul Casey Trophy, took place on a very warm Sunday afternoon on Sunday 20th September at Milford Club.

The format for the U12 Championship is 18 holes scratch stroke play, plus two handicap prizes. Handicaps ranged from 6 to 28 and some fine golf was witnessed.

The handicap prize was won with an impressive net 62, 4 under the CSS of 66 was won by Seve Morales from Sutton Green Golf Club. Finlay Fergusson from Burhill took 2nd place on a count back from Alex Bocquet from St Georges Hill with 63.

Onto the main competition of the day, the Paul Casey Trophy, and what a great competition we had. Matthew Kim (Cuddington Golf Club) claimed the crown with a gross 71. Aaron Moody (Burhill Golf Club) took second spot from Evan Taylor (Foxhills Golf Club) by virtue of countback both shooting 76.

Due to current restrictions no presentation was able to take place, but all three boys were given their winnings at the U14 event.

My thanks to Milford Golf Club for hosting the Championship, we were all made to feel so welcome by staff in the bar, Professional shop, and members alike. Thanks, must also go to the greens staff and not forgetting all our volunteers who spent the day on the course helping make it such a wonderful day for junior golf.

And finally, huge congratulations to Matthew Kim for winning the 2020 Surrey U12 Championship.
