Covid-19 County Statement 13th May 2020
Despite the fact that golfers are being allowed to get out on the course, unfortunately due to the continued situation regards Covid-19 and following Government advice, it is with regret that Surrey County Golf Ltd have to announce all County activity including knockouts, County Card meetings, league matches, the Rookie Tour, County Championships, presentations, etc are now suspended until the end of June.
We will continue to monitor and review the situation on a month by month basis and take guidance from the Government and England Golf. After each review, as more information is released by the authorities, we will provide an update on the impact to our events. I hope to be in a position to update Surreys position at the end of May, by which time we will have more information from the Government, so please keep checking the website.
When safe to do so and in line with any protocols and restriction that may be in place we will endeavour where possible to re-schedule some of the suspended / cancelled competitions, but realistically this might not be possible with all our competitions. It is our intention that events, such as the County Championships, will possibly be held later in the season but almost certainly in a reduced format, and with entry numbers reduced.
I will be liaising with the Clubs regards this over the coming months. I must emphasise that the situation is that currently the majority of County events are suspended and not cancelled, at least for the time being, but this is subject to a continuous review and I hope to be in a better position to give more clarification regards each event at the end of May.
As we all know, Golf is a great form of exercise but please ensure you adhere to official guidelines.
Our priority is and will always be the health and well-being of our players, coaches, referees, volunteers, employees, and staff working at golf clubs and the wider golfing community. We thank you for your patience and understanding at this time.
