England Golf Seniors' Qualifier 2022

The course was in excellent condition given the recent hot and dry weather and the scores reflected the difficulty with the hosts Sussex leading after day 1 on +14 for the 5 from 6 scoring cards. Surrey were 4th on +29 overnight.

From previous experience the players knew that kind of lead is not insurmountable and set off on day 2 with an attacking mindset. 

Our lead off pair of Ian and Les returned excellent scores of 73 and 71 respectively followed by a battling 79 from Peter and a similar fighting 76 from Nigel that put us in an interesting position awaiting the final 2 players coming down the stretch.

David had a few unlucky breaks in his 82 and while Keith fought back from a couple of dropped shots around the turn to score a battling 77, which meant Surrey would finish 2nd on countback only 6 shots behind winners Kent having matched overnight leaders Sussex score.
