Mid Sussex Golf Club played host to the annual U14 Surrey v Sussex v Kent triangular match and the weather held despite a few threatening clouds blowing across. A fresh wind and very hard running fairways needed some skilled play to hold the ball on the greens.
At lunchtime after the morning foursomes Kent had the lead with 14 points followed by Surrey with 10 points and Sussex on 6 points. Best performance in the foursomes came from Ben Kuhler and Matthew Greenwood who took maximum points and Travis Leach and Ryan Lumsden who took 3 out of 4 points.
The afternoon singles saw some great fightbacks from Jack Duguid, Charlie Coleman, Robbie Hughes and Ryan Lumsden who all earned valuable points for the team. Robbie, Jordan Mohammadi, Ben Kuhler and Travis Leach all scored maximum points in the singles to help our total along. In the end we fell short of Kent by 3 points but beat Sussex by 9 points. A solid team performance played with a great team spirit. Congratulations to Jack Duguid on his debut as Captain and for a very good speech. Thanks to Peter Barratt for all his help with scoring and keeping the team watered and fed. Special thanks to Coach John Noble for all his hard work and advice to the team which certainly made a big difference to our performance.
To all the parents a big thank you for getting the boys there and for being such a great team of supporters.
Match Result - Kent 35 points, Surrey 32 points, Sussex 23 points
