County Card Burhill Meeting (Old Course) Mar 12 ~ write up and photos

County Card Meeting

Burhill Old Course

Thursday March 12 for the Vincent Trophy

Unlike last year’s Burhill County Card Meeting where all the players were greeted by grey skies and rain, this year the sun very kindly appeared. Just under 30 men rolled up to a coffee and bacon roll and then went out to play for the imposing ‘Vincent Trophy’ presented to Surrey by Roger Vincent a past Surrey President and member of Burhill Golf Club.

Despite the deluge of rain over the last month, the Burhill green staff had obviously been working very hard as the course was very good condition all things considered.

The speed of play by all the players was excellent, with everyone finishing in good time. After a much welcomed two course lunch, Roger Vincent presented the prizes. The two nearest the pins were won by John Hibberd from the Royal Automobile Club on the 16th hole and David Kendle from Cuddington on the 6th.

In third place with a very credible 33 points was Barry Smale from the Royal Automobile Club. Mike Thomson from Coulsdon Court and Terry Murray from Burhill both finished with 35 points but taking first spot on countback was Terry Murray, congratulations Terry.

Thanks go to Burhill Golf Club for once again hosting us and making everyone feel so welcome. And of course, to the people who helped with this event, Brian Cox (reception) plus Sue Henderson and Jane Duhart from the Surrey office who do all the administration.

The next meeting will be at West Hill on Thursday 2nd April, the entry forms and full details of this and other Surrey events can be found on the ‘events’ page on our website.
