County Card Meeting at Hankley Common
Four Ball Better Ball
Wednesday 9th October 2019
The 64 players arrived at Hankley Common where they were greeted by a rare appearance of the sun and with the course looking in fabulous condition it was shaping up to be the start of a great day.
Before going out on the course the players, along with the Surrey officials, tucked into a most welcome bacon roll with their coffee/tea.
Having started the day with a two tee start from 09:00, the first players out began coming off the course around one o’clock and the scorecards didn’t disappoint. As we have come to expect at Hankley, the course was in excellent condition and we were treated to a wonderful meal which was enjoyed by all.
Jack Buchanan, President of Surrey Golf presented the Cup and prizes. Clinching first place was Toby Bain and Robert Smith both from Surbiton with 43 points. Second place on countback went to Tim Steadman of The Addington Golf Club and Roberto Servini from Addington Palace Golf Club, and in third place was Gavin Hawes and Gordon Howie both from Dulwich & Sydenham Golf Club.
Nearest the pin on the 7th hole was Ross Van Nairn from Effingham and on the 16th Chris Rafter from Tyrrells Wood.
As always, our huge thanks to Hankley Common for hosting us and making everyone feel so very welcome.
The next meeting to take place is on Thursday the 7th November at St George’s Hill. There are still spaces available so if you are interested in playing please contact the office.
