School holidays means matches and golf events come thick and
fast. This match was the annual fixture against Middlesex and this year it was
Surrey's turn to host.
The home venue was Sutton Green and the course was presented in fantastic condition. This event is usually 12-16 a side, however unfortunately Middlesex were only able to bring 8 boys for the match.
As per usual with the 1st tee rapidly approaching, a call was made to Mr Razinskas to ensure David was on his way, with minutes to spare he made it in time to join Ugo in the second Surrey pairing.
The format was 4 ball better ball, scratch matchplay which meant the last 4 Surrey boys had split in to pairs and competed in a Surrey vs Surrey match. This was actually quite an important match with final lines up for the U14's league squad up for grabs. Credit to all 4 boys they played and really committed to this, with Prince & Saunders eventually coming out winners 2&1.
The Surrey vs Middlesex match saw 3 of the 4 groups come out relatively strongly, the front group turning 2 up, the second 5 up and the third 6 up. However, the last group were 2 down early but manged to turn all square.
With the first 3 matches finishing early, with the furthest going to the 14th hole, the clean sweep was all hanging on the last group. After 15 they were still all square, the lead having changed hands several times. With parents nails disappearing the Surrey pair of Brash & Halai-Carter eventually ran out winners 2&1.
A good day of golf and weather was rounded off with burgers and chips before everyone headed home
