Trophy – Farnham Golf Club
The final of the John Ling Trophy, now in its thirteenth year took place at Farnham Golf Club between the two finalists Clandon Regis and Wentworth. We were greeted to prefect weather conditions and the customary warm welcome by Ben and his team.
The first of the five matches got underway at 10 am and with the handicaps being evenly matched it was poised for a very close final. The eventual winners were Wentworth winning three of the five matches with one loss and a friendly half . The match was played in the true spirit of the game and all the players commented on this. The course didn’t disappoint and our thanks go to the green staff at Farnham.
Colin Smith the current Men’s Captain welcomed both teams to Farnham. We were very fortunate to have John Ling with us for the presentation. He congratulated both teams on making it through to the final and presented the Trophy to Wentworth’s Peter Lomas. Peter Lomas accepted the trophy for Wentworth and thanked John for attending the day and expressed his thanks to the club and also their opponents for an enjoyable final.
Our thanks go to John Ling for taking the time to attend the presentation, to Ben and the team at Farnham for their warm hospitality and both Wentworth and Clandon Regis for an exceptional display of sportsmanship.
