Surrey fielded 8 of the players who got us of to a winning start against Kent with Ivan Norman and Billy Mitchell stepping up to complete the line up. In a hotly contested match Surrey emerged with a 6-4 win over Hampshire.
It was a great team performance with, on this occasion, the ‘tail’ wagging very strongly with 4.5 points from the the last 6 six games. Ian Barker continued his great start to his Seniors career with a second win and John Mathis delivered with winning point against Tim Gilbert in the final match. Many thanks on behalf of all the players to everyone who turned up to support the team and especially to John Cassidy who was on duty to keep the players well watered and fed on what was a very hot day.
With two home wins we now put the League on hold until 29th August when we are away to Sussex at Crowborough Beacon.
Our thanks go to Dubravka Griffiths and her team, especially Daniel Dodd, for hosting our two home fixtures again. Burhill GC was is great condition for both matches, the food outstanding and the welcome from all staff very warm indeed.
