Surrey Schools' Association success at the South England Schools Golf Championships

The Surrey Schools' Golf Team had a successful day at the South England Schools' Golf Championships held at Bush Hill Park Golf Club, Enfield on Tuesday 29th May.

The 36 hole championship unfortunately had to be cut to 18 holes due to the torrential rain and thunder storms that started in north London in the early afternoon. However the Surrey Schools boys team of Charlie and Harry Crockett (Oxted School) and Ben Partridge (St Andrew's School, Leatherhead) managed to master the early cool and breezy conditions extremely well and were able to post a very creditable team score of 214 and take the team trophy, well ahead of their nearest rivals, Kent Schools.

Surrey (SSGA) also produced the individual South England Schools' Boys Champion in Ben Partridge who carded a magnificent three under par 67 to win by 4 clear shots. Ben, who has already represented England Schools against Scotland at Troon last August, has qualified along with both Charlie and Harry Crockett, to play in the English Schools Golf Championships, which is being played at The Shire London Golf Club on 25th June. Olivia Hunt (Reigate College) was the only girl who was able to represent Surrey Schools in the rain affected South England Schools' Girls' Championships, due to an unfortunate clash with the County Girls Championships and through her finishing position of joint fifth, Olivia was also selected to play in the National Schools' event.

A thoroughly creditable performance and the possibility of further success at the Nationals.
