County Card Meeting

Hindhead GC

Thursday May 24

Yellow Tees  1st & 10th tees

Singles Stableford

for the Buchanan Trophy

With 75 players making their way from all over Surrey to the fantastic and challenging Hindhead Golf course for the 3rd County Card Meeting of the year.

The weather was looking anything but friendly with a cold breeze overcast skies and rain forecast, and it did rain although the worst was towards the end of the day so those lucky early starters didn’t get too wet.

After some coffee and bacon roll the players made their way to tee it up on both the 1st and the 10th tees.

The course was in its usual great condition, with many of the players commenting on just how much they enjoyed playing it, even those who didn’t have their best day’s golf on what is not an easy course.

The speed of play by all the players was excellent, as it has been in the previous events, which goes to show it can be done. And given the conditions and how tough this course can play the scoring was fairly impressive with many good scores.

After a most enjoyable three course meal County President Jack Buchanan assisted by none other than Peter Alliss presented the Trophy to the winner Simon Baxter of Purley Downs, who just pushed Ajeya Adhikariof Coombe Wood into second by a single stroke.

Our thanks to Hindhead Golf Club for hosting us and making everyone feel so welcome.

The next meeting is at Hankley Common (singles) on Wednesday 10th of October, followed by the Hankley Four ball Better Ball on the 17th October. Then on Thursday the 8th November the St Georges Hill event is back on the list.

See you soon at one of the upcoming events and happy golfing.
