John Davies retires as County Secretary and Steve McNeill starts....!

Surrey Golf are pleased to announce that on the 1st May 2018 Steve McNeill became the County Golf Secretary, taking over from John Davies who has retired from the role after 14 years of service to the County. John will continue to be involved with the County in other roles.

 

Steve has a wealth of experience within golf and Surrey in particular, having for the past two years been Assistant County Secretary.

 

Steve has also been involved in junior golf within the County for many years, starting in 2000 when he was Junior Organiser at Bramley Golf Club for six years before taking on volunteer roles within Surrey Golf. Steve was instrumental in helping to develop the RookieTour into the success it is today along with managing several of the Junior teams, running Championships and other County events. He was also has involved in creating the excellent County coaching programme that is now in place within Surrey.

 

We wish Steve all the success in his new role within the County. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

John Davies, our County Secretary, has finally decided to retire just before his 71st birthday at the end of this month.

John has been in post since April 2004, at the same time as our office manager Jane Duhart.

 

His first connection with Surrey was as the caddie for Bill Tillman, the then Surrey Captain, at the age of 14. John went on represent Surrey in the first team in 1966 and 1967, whilst at Reading University.

 

He will still be doing volunteer work for the county, including that of Handicap Advisor and Surrey Representative at England Golf. He may be contacted on 07767-260999 as usual.

 

The Board of Directors wish to thank John for all his work for Surrey, and wish him a happy retirement.
