U18 come second in South East EGU League

The South East Group run the League and the 11 Counties are split into three smaller groups - we were with Sussex, Kent and Hampshire and play 2 away and 1 home match with the group winner going through to the main final.

We won our group narrowly from Hampshire and so went through to the final and played the two other group winners - BB&O and Norfolk and this was a repeat of the 2016 final which we won.

I'm afraid to say we could not repeat the win and lost to BB&O. We play a triangular match with Foursomes in the morning and had a strong start beating both BB&O and Norfolk by 3 -1.

We had high hopes for the singles in the afternoon and in the early stages we looked strong and comfortable. However, we began to fall behind to some great golf from BB&O who then went on to beat us quite convincingly - not what we had expected.

We have to admit they played better than us on the closing holes and deserved to win - they have been the strongest County in the South East this year. We did beat Norfolk 7-1 but that does not make up for the BB&O result.

We played at Hockley GC, near Winchester and they looked after us very well and was a good, challenging course.

Thanks to our team - Alfie Fox (C), Harvey Byers, Aadam Syed, Charlie Crockett, Harry Plowman-Ollington, Will Hobbs, Kevin Lee and Enrique Dimayuga.

Some of the team will move up to the next age group, Colts, and we wish them well and thank them for all they have done for us over the years but a shame we could not end on a win!
