Junior Champion Club
– Woodhall Spa 14 & 15 August 2017
Congratulations to the Addington Palace Junior Team of Charlie Crockett (1), Harry Crockett (2) and Cameron Cridge (12), who finished runners up in the Junior Champion Club at Woodhall Spa this week.
The team, who were representing Surrey after last year winning the Christie’s Cup, narrowly missed out on the national title by one point! Played over two rounds on the tough Hotchkin Course, Addington Palace scored 147 points with their best two scores counting from each round. Unfortunately, this was just not quite enough losing out to Burghill Valley Golf Club, Herefordshire, whose 1pt victory was attributed to Conor McNeil’s terrific second round score of 43pts!
All three of the boys contributed to the team’s total over the two rounds. Round one saw another good score from Harry Crockett 38pts and playing in his first big championship a brave 35pts from Cameron Cridge. This put the team in tied third on 73pts only 4pts behind leaders Kettering G.C. In round two Cameron’s confidence and belief grew and he produced a fabulous round of 40pts, backed up by a solid 34pts from Charlie Crockett, to leave the team on 147pts and just one short of the main prize.
Despite the disappointment of just losing out, the boys have enjoyed a great experience and should be congratulated for both their effort and playing some great golf on a top challenging golf course.
